100 days + one year...
and to think that its like that all over the city.
,kulang kasi s info and dissemination! kya hnd maintndhn ng tao ang ggwn! kht nagsesegragate tau..hnd prn knokolekta!
naku..that's bad..waste segregation really won't work if info is not properly disseminated. it took so many pamplets, seminars and several months of intense garbage checking for segregation to work in our village here in manila...tsk tsk..
no words can describe this, my heart is breaking - what happened? Where's the so-called politicians in office who promised to keep Baguio's interest at heart, huh?
really? frustrating just looking at it! Sayang!

hindi ba kinokolekta ng barangays ang recyclables weekly? at wala ba junk shop ang mga barangays? dapat talaga pinapakita din ng city government that they are strict in implementing the rules of segregation para maenganyo ang mga tao magsegregate. and of course, teach the households how to do it, again and again and again until it becomes a habit.
But of course, the great Environmentalists have been at the crux of educational campaign for the longest time. But they too will tell you that -- "It is NOT that simple, dude!"
| Last Oct 5, a stormy day, our company Heritage Promotions had visitors -- a textile artist and a photographer -- who came all the way from the US to see for themselves what we've featured in our magazines.
But woe to Baguio, all the streets were lined with tons of garbage. You could imagine our embarrassment for promoting this city to the world. Probably, they really are bent on killing tourism so that, as Ms Lisa Araneta said, only diploma mills would thrive. To this day, now rotting, the garbage are still there!
In several fora on Baguio issues, we've warned everyone that it won't happen overnight.
It takes at least 21 days or so for a habit to form -- and that is on a determined personal effort. But we are talking about an entire community here, with different levels of social consciousness and which may take longer to educate.
As we've said: You cannot impose consciousness. A mere edict or ordinance won't accomplish that work. At least, not overnight.

cowgurltuna wrote on Oct 13, '07, edited on Oct 13, '07 hmm. i really love baguio and if i could be anywhere right now, i'd wanna be there. anyway, my sisters and i were walking around the city and i then i saw this sign that said "baguio city- cleanest and greenest in the philippines", and right below that sign is something like that image above. so, with my "legendary" smirk and cynicism i said "cleanest and greenest kanu!", and sabi ng sis ko "pagbaraam ngay! ti la makitkitam ken mapanpansin mo" or something like that.. hehe. mamati ak ngamin nga agpayso jay nakasurat jay sign. ngem nu kanayon nga kastoy ti imahe nga makita tayo ket dakesen.. yun lang po. just my 2 cents worth.. :-)
rats will soon be all over the city, nung dumaan sa bahay yung tao ng baranggay captain sa amin para magspread ng notice about this, 1 week nang hindi nangongolekta yung kolektor, tsk, nauna pa i-enforce kesa iinform mga tao
let's post our comments, suggestions, critiques on the mayor's multiply site. that's what it exists for, right? maybe our views will actually reach him, maybe not. he ought to see the effect 'his word' has on the city. i posted a picture of uncollected garbage on his blog to drive the point home hehe. am resisting the temptation to litter his blog with basura pictures, the way our streets are littered by the real thing. he says in his blog that he's here to listen. sige nga, let's see...
